The Republic of Armenia joined ISO in 1994 as a Correspondent member and became a Full member in 1997. In 2019 the National Institute of Standards and the National Institute of Metrology were consolidated and transformed into the National Body for Standards and Metrology (ARMSTANDARD) under the responsibility of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia.

The National Body for Standards and Metrology is recognized as an Armenian National Standardization Body and represents Armenia in the international and regional organizations for standardization.

ARMSTANDARD develops and adopts national standards (AST) and other standardization documents, maintains a national fund of standards of the Republic of Armenia, which contains International (ISO, EN), Interstate (GOST), Armenian (AST) and other state standards, etc. ARMSTANDARD has a Training Center, which provides with training services for Armenian experts and checks their qualification levels in the fields of standardization, metrology and conformity assessment.
